The Term “#SleeperAndEater” is a Hashtag used on twitter by railway enthusiasts. It is a word creation and refers to night trains that have a dining car attached, which is a criteria of high comfort quality. This term usually refers to trains with a long route and not only over night.
This is common on the very long-distance trains in the Scandinavia, Finland, USA, Russia, China, Australia or South East Asia. In Central Europe there are not many night train relations left that classify as a #SleeperAndEater, especially as ÖBB’s Nightjet services offer (hot) food, snacks and beverages from the steward served at the sleeper compartment. Examples in :
- Train 346 /347 “Dacia” with a CFR “WRlee” inside Romania.
- Seasonal summer night train service IC 1204/1205 “Adria” between Budapest and Split has a beautiful MÁV #FensterAuf “WRm” attached.
- EN 50466/50467 between Prague and Zürich is a through carriage attached to EC 336/337 “Jižní expres” which has a ČD “ARmpee” dining car attached.
